We remember her as an adorable child star on the family sitcom "Full House." But now Candace Cameron Bure is opening up about her struggles with an eating disorder, talking with OMG Insider on Dec. 13.
Candace revealed that her eating disorder began after she married her husband, Valeri Bure, and moved to Montreal for his career as a professional hockey player. Struggling to balance her professional and personal life, Candace used food for comfort.
"Clearly it wasn't a healthy way to deal with things. That's really when my faith was kicked up a notch, and I sought comfort in my relationship with God and not with food," she explained.
Because she wants to help others benefit from similar spiritual relationships, Candace authored "Reshaping It All: Motivation for Physical and Spiritual Fitness" (click for details). In it, she talks about her battle with food and how her faith helped her recover.
As a child actress, however Candace feels that the producers tried to prevent her from being conscious about her weight.
"They all had a sensitivity about it," she explained. "Even the one episode of 'Full House' where D.J. goes on a crash diet for a few days … they asked me would I feel comfortable doing an episode about that."
Candace also has a new book coming out in January: "Balancing It All: My Story of Juggling Priorities and Purpose" (click for details).
