The moon, finding its way into our lives through in its own cycles of expansion and contraction comes to us in full light tonight with an archetype of the hunter. The October Full Moon is known in astrology as, The Hunter Moon. This moon exposes our animal/emotional nature, our need for foundational support from the ground up and a needed trip to confession.
Tonight’s moon is energized by the bullish Earth sign Taurus. The Sun entered Scorpio on October 22. This pair of water and earth elements can get muddy; collapsing what we once thought was stable; breaking illusion from the constant delusion. We could look to this event as one where we are restructuring to build a new life of Taurian beauty and stability or we could run back into the darkness and scream through our valueless plastic mask. Our reality will be determined by what we are willing to indulge in, reflect towards and expose in the glowing light for Mother Maiden healing or if we merely want to keep playing hide-n-seek with ourselves and our fears.
How deep is our abyss of hidden secrets?
Sun in Scorpio is an intense, mysterious and emotional energy that likes to be sneaky and sensational. It builds interior dams and confluences that keep hidden secrets and devilish desires. Scorpio’s ruling planet is Pluto. Pluto has concerns about the underworld, the unconscious conscience. We will be greeted by the haunting of things past that want to be released and shed from our own lives. Beware as Taurus will bring in the stubbornness factor by having us digging in our hooves with force or anger and not see the change as applicable. We may recall the werewolf that does his transformation in the height of the full moon rays, almost hesitantly but violently, could he have been fighting the urge to purge the Scorpio’s emotional cargo with Taurus howling out in pain to survive the unstoppable human to animal metamorphoses?
How will we go into the night, transformed or just transitioned?
We do not have to endure such pain as the werewolf since we know, “resistance is futile.” What we hold on to causes us the suffering that manifests into a depression or dis-eased state of mind. We become something we are not as the fear takes over our ability to be agile and leap to other opportunities. We can grasp and gasp out to solutions that only keep us tied into the problem because we cannot move from the attachment of the old, the familiar; we stay in stinky stagnant waters.
Our goal is to clean the filter that has been placed by watery Scorpio and uncover the destructive patterns and pain that have been held captive. We are to invite the flow of love into our lives by purifying our internal waters, not damming them up with the sludge of secrets and failures of the past. Our animal nature will help lead us with courage so we can tidy-up our den and make room for new inhabitants. No stone unturned; no shadow left unexposed. Do a high dive off the emotional waterfall and find freedom from making a decision to jump by trusting the self and the intuitive gifts of Scorpio. The push we will feel is all this energy we are being downloaded with in the fullness of the moon. Make sure to use this surge wisely and take advantage of the vulnerability this creates, no more protective guard or lifesavers.
Be naked.
When we are naked there is nothing more to cover up. This Full Moon strikes the light on our lives like a game of streaking - we can run but we are still naked. Taurus is bucking our behinds and challenging us to charge the naked matador -us. At the same time, Scorpio wants to hold us captive to the wounds of life by having us wear a water-proof Band-Aid; Scorpio insists we keep things secretive and contained. But let’s talk Scorpio… eventually, Band-Aids come off and the cut has a scab; if we don’t touch it, it falls off, naturally.
Facing up to our emotional truths is what we are seeking to expose in the light. Darkness crumbles in an illuminated state so that we can become aware of what is actually true. What is uncovered cannot be denied but it can be healed. The time is ripe for coming clean to any indiscretions, little white lies or less than honorable intentions we have foraged through up until now in our relationships.
Now, what?
We have become transformed, transfigured, and completely naked, left to attend a muddy mess. We have the option of taking this reconditioned malleable substance – our lives - and making mud pies to throw out at those that cast shadows upon us or taking the higher road of intelligence and creating a new stronger structure built of forgiveness, awareness and honesty. We always have choices in the matter; the heart is the core of all matter. Truth is our foundation to love; we can’t hide in truth. If all this scares us a little, this is the point. This moon is about moving out of our comfort zone, into the hot seat to melt the protective shell that will push us more soundly and safely into the light. Happy Full Moon in Taurus!
