Camera maker Fujifilm has just announced that it will soon release a new 10-24 f4 lens for its X-mount cameras. The lens, to be officially known as the Fujinon XF 10-24 f4R OIS, will be a premium, wide-angle model designed for the company's new X-mount line of cameras.
So, what about the new lens itself?
The new 10-24 f4 is being marketed by Fuji as an all-around lens that can do indoors, outdoors, and low-light all equally well. To add to the low light capability, the lens also features an optical stabilization feature. In full frame/film terms, the lens features an equivalent field of view as a 15-36mm lens.
As for features, the lens features 14 elements in 10 groups. 4 of these elements are aspherical and 3 are low dispersion, meaning for a very complex design that, if it performs as intended, has promise of producing some truly exquisite images. The lens also features the latest in coating technology (with some elements coated on both sides) to minimize flares/ghosts. The lens can also focus down to just 10 inches, making for the ability for some unique, close-up images. As another selling point, the lens features an aperture ring and all-metal construction.
As for one last feature, Fuji promises extra resolution in images from this lens when used with cameras featuring Fuji's Lens Modulator Optimizer (LMO) function.
Want one yet? The lens will start shipping in March for $999.
