Fugue ninth annual prose and poetry writing contest

Fugue, a literary journal from the English and Creative Writing Programs at the University of Idaho, is holding their Ninth Annual Prose and Poetry Writing Contest.

First place receives $1000 and publication in Fugue. Second and Third place winners receive publication.

The fee to enter is $20.00. Submissions must be emailed by May 1, 2010, and can be no more than 10,000 words. Poetry should not be more than three poems or five pages.

Winners will be announced August 4, 2010.

The Writer’s Loft: Helmed by the famed Jerry Cleaver, author of Immediate Fiction and Professor of Professional Fiction at Northwestern University.

StoryStudio Chicago: StoryStudio’s mission is to “foster confidence and creativity in writing and storytelling through teaching, discussion, performance and community building. Writers and performers of all levels—from beginners to professionals—are invited to participate.”

Neighborhood Writing Alliance: The Neighborhood Writing Alliance holds several weekly writing workshops in neighborhoods across the city. Registration is free.

NewTown Writers: NewTown is a gay and lesbian writers’ group with regular workshops every two weeks. Registration is free.

TheUndeniables.org is an online critique group for those with restricted schedules who may not have the time to participate in a conventional classroom workshop. Registration is free. Wordpress account required.
