It seems difficult to believe that Daisy Fuentes marked the Spring/Summer 2014 season with her 10-year anniversary collection.
Daisy Fuentes has blossomed as she crosses the cultural divide from stunning model and television host to successful designer. Fuentes seems to always excel in whatever she puts her heart and soul into. Each year, Fuentes sells approximately $300 million in hair care, fragrances, clothing, sunglasses and accessories as she markets exclusively to Kohl’s Department Store.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, New York Fashion Week was graced with the presence of the lovely Daisy Fuentes as she debuted her latest Spring 2014 Collection to a thrilled and packed audience at Eyebeam Art & Technology Center located strategically in Chelsea.
Those in attendance included Bravo’s Sonja Morgan and Josh Flagg, ‘Orange is the New Black’ stars Jackie Cruz and Alysia Reiner, Twilight star Toni Trucks as well as Latin Billboard Award winner Natti Natasha.
Inspiration for the collection was the ocean-soaked Malibu, one of Daisy’s favorite areas for relaxing and living the carefree lifestyle. It conveys the true meaning of barefoot luxury; modern, fresh and always chic. We were treated to a diverse set of pieces from fluid silk jumpsuits to cropped ribbed sweaters to lace shift dresses. Gold tops glisten with richness and flowing skirts tipped the scale of feminine appeal. Maxi skirts are the new rage of the season worn in a polished and pleasing way. Suede caresses your skin with its sultry softness.
Details from swimwear and bodysuits make their way into daywear adding an active touch ever more glamorous by the carefree vibe and barefoot luxury that could only be imagined on a sun-swept Malibu beach. Colors varied and began with white and neutrals as pops of indigo and sun-kissed stripes were thrown in for good measure. Just prior to her show, Daisy was featured in a WWD article to celebrate the brand’s 10 year anniversary.
The publication applauded Fuentes for her impressive staying power and persistent customer appeal. Fuentes is extremely grateful for the longevity that her collections hold in such a tough industry. It is evident that her dedication to her brand is what keeps the fire burning brightly. She designs keeping the woman constantly in her thoughts and knowing just what they want out of their clothing, the image they want to portray.
Daisy Fuentes is also known for her active support for Breast Cancer Research and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. She also frequents fundraisers for March of Dimes and Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Fuentes has been the celebrity chairman for the annual St. Jude Angeles & Stars gala in Miami since its debut in Miami more than 7 years ago, raising millions of dollars for this organization. In 2007, Fuentes worked for Girls On the Run, a non-profit prevention program that encouraged preteen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through running.
Fuentes has also worked with many breast cancer awareness causes such as the Revlon / UCLA Women’s Breast Cancer Research program. She received an award at The Wellness Community West Los Angeles Tribute to the Human Spirit Awards dinner for her commitment to spreading breast cancer awareness, particularly in the Latino community.
There isn’t anything that Daisy Fuentes can’t do. She gives true meaning to fashion and all that it represents for the future wardrobe of the modern woman of today.
