Grandma Smith’s Two-Tone Fudge Recipe

Ingredients for Grandma Smith’s Two-Tone Fudge:

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • ½ cup butter
  • 1 small jar marshmallow crème (about 7 oz.)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

Directions for making Grandma Smith’s Two-Tone Fudge:

Butter a 9 x 9-inch dish.

In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the first four ingredients. Bring them to a full boil, stirring constantly, over medium-low heat. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

Add the marshmallow crème and vanilla, mix until smooth. To 2 cups of the mixture, add the butterscotch chips and ½ cup of the nuts (if using). Pour evenly into the prepared 9x9-inch dish.

To the remaining mixture, add the chocolate chips and ½ of the nuts – stir. Pour over the butterscotch mixture. Chill until set.

(When I was a little girl, my Grandmother made this fudge recipe every Christmas, and she always put it in the same candy dish. I would run into her house, open the lid to that dish and there it was! Now that same candy dish is on a table in my home and tonight I’m remembering my Grandma and Christmases past.)
