One of the joys of Thanksgiving is in the sharing of food, family, friends. And part of the sharing is the selection of a wine which not only compliments the meal, but can stand alone when desired.
This past Thanksgiving the wine we choose to share with the family was an outstanding 2011 Napa Valley Zinfandel from the Frank Family Vineyards. The Frank Family Zinfandel set exactly the right tones to compliment all parts of the meal.
This Zin highlights the complexity of a large, Thanksgiving type of meal. The nose is complex, yet delightful. It is highlighted by fruits, sage and pepper. Each of these touches directly on the variety of dishes we served.
The palate can focus on dark cherries and a hint of oak. Again, this blends so well with the dishes served.
The harvest of the grapes occurred in late September and early October 2011. The wine was created with a 89% Zin and 11% Petit Sirah. All the grapes were from the vineyards in Napa Valley.
This selection for the dinner was a great success.
The Frank Family 2011 Zinfandel is but one of a series of wine from the Frank Family.
Enjoy a Frank Family wine and have a winederful day!
