Fall is here and this weekend is packed with lots of family-friendly activities across the DFW metroplex. You'll find no shortage of things to do, whether your preference is indoor or outdoor activities, arts and entertainment or nature, big crowds or small groups.
Day in the District - 09/24
This annual event takes place across nine Fort Worth museums, who will be providing free admission and special performances throughout the day. Read more.
Family Khan Day - 09/24
As part of the national Smithsonian Day, which provides free admission at museums across the country, the Irving Arts Center will be offering guests free admission to the Genghis Khan exhibit from 9-11 a.m. Admission is timed and guests must print a free ticket from the Smithsonian Day website. Special activities will take place throughout the day.
WFAA Family First Day - 09/24
Celebrate Elephant Appreciation Day at the Dallas Zoo with half-price admission all day. Adult tickets are $6 and for children 3-12, $4.50. Activities include free keeper talks and demonstrations. Behind-the-scenes tours of the elephant enclosure will be provided at $5 per person.
Michael's Craft Workshop & Demo - 09/24
There will be two free events at Michael's this weekend. From 10 a.m. to noon, American Girl fans age 3+ can make a breakfast plate and chef's hat for their doll. From 1-3 p.m. adults can learn how to decorate a Wilton-style Halloween cake.
Lowes Build & Grow Workshop - 09/24
Children in grades 1-5 accompanied by an adult can build a free wooden fire truck, complete with decals and working lights, at Lowes from 10-11 a.m. Registration is not required, but supplies are limited.
Birth & Family Expo - 09/24
The Bob Duncan Center in Arlington will be hosting a free event with family-oriented vendors for expecting and current parents from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The first 100 guests will receive a swag bag. Check out a list of the vendors at Bold Fort Worth.
Just Between Friends Consignment - 09/25 through10/01
This bi-annual children's consignment sale is back, starting September 25th at the Will Rogers Center. This is the perfect opportunity to stock up on fall clothing and get a head start on holiday shopping. Check the JBF calendar for a full schedule with dates, times, admission fees, and more details.
