The weekend is here and Fort Worth is buzzing with activity. Head to Dallas for the State Fair of Texas or stick around Fort Worth for crafts, music, and fall fun.

State Fair of Texas - through 10/23
The State Fair offers budget-friendly fun for adults and kids of all ages. Between the music, live shows, food, games, rides, and exhibits, a family could easily spend the whole weekend here. Check out Ft. Worth Frugal Family Examiner's Guide to the State Fair of Texas 2011.

Cowtown Indie Bazaar - 10/15
Get your Christmas shopping done and pick up a few goodies for yourself at the Cowtown Indie Bazaar this Saturday from 9-5 at the Will Rogers Center. All items are handmade by local artists and range from jewelry and clothing to toys and artwork. Admission is free and the first 50 guests will receive one of the highly-sought-after swag bags.

Musicarte - 10/15 & 16
Celebrate latino culture with music, food, art, entertainment, and children's activities at the annual Musicarte. There will also be several exercise demonstrations. This event will be held at the Panther Island Pavilion on the Trinity River, Uptown. General admission is $5; everyone under 21 is free.

Frontier Fall Festival - 10/15
Log Cabin Village is open again. Stop by between 1 and 4 p.m. for lots of games, hands-on activities, live music, and a pumpkin carving contest. Cost is regular village admission ($4.50 for adults, $4 for children 4-17). An additional fee will be charged for those who choose to make a corn husk doll or copper bracelet.

Solar Saturday - 10/15
The BRIT, located near the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, hosts family Saturdays twice per month. A demonstration on solar energy will be held at 11:30 a.m. Families can also take a self-guided tour of the facilities any time. The building is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Kids Puppetry Troup - 10/16
Children age 10-12 can learn how to make puppets and participate in a live performance. This group meets from 1 to 3 p.m. on the third Sunday of each month at Central Branch Library. For more information call 817-871-7745.
