Late this morning, the Department of Defense announced the death of 1st Lt. Jason Togi, a Soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
1st Lt. Jason Togi, 24, of Pago Pago, American Samoa, died Aug. 26, 2013, in Hasan Karez, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.
There was no information regarding other Soldiers who might have been injured in this attack.
Togi was assigned to the 2nd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
Pago Pago is the capital city of American Samoa, a region long affiliated with the United States military, especially the U.S. Navy.
