Fruity tips for green cleaning

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm not a big fan of fruit, but I've found some new ways to use it to clean things in my kitchen!

This first tip is a way to clean out the inside of your disposal. The disposal can build up with food and if it isn't cleaned properly, can start to smell. Try this green trick to clean it out. Take your leftover orange peels and put them in the freezer. Once they are completely frozen, put them in the disposal and run with water for a few minutes. The frozen peels with clean the impellers and leave the unit smelling clean and fresh.

Another quick tip is to use a lemon to clean your copper or brass. Just cut a fresh lemon in half, dip in table salt and rub over the copper. You will be amazed at how easy it cleans off the tarnish!

If you enjoy these tips, you will love my book: The Joy of Green Cleaning. You can see a sample of the book and it's contents here. You can also download the e-book to save money and paper. How green is that!
