Frugal Valentine's Day date ideas

Valentine’s Day is a few days away and the holiday is really about being with the people you love rather than actual gifts.

Here are some frugal date ideas that you can do for Valentine’s Day:

Go to the beach. While many people are stuck in the snow and cold in other parts of the country, we are lucky to be able to go to the beach and enjoy the fresh ocean air. Pick up some of your favorite take out, or even make some picnic friendly food and eat on a blanket on the beach, watching the waves with your loved one.

Make it a Redbox night. The best thing about Redbox is that rentals are less than $2 a night and have the latest movies that are available on DVD/Blu Ray. Watching a movie at home is always more cozy than a movie theater, and costs a lot less.

Go out for dessert. While many restaurants are packed for Valentine’s Day, many dessert places are not. You can always share dessert, sit and chat or even take a walk with your loved one.

Go down memory lane. As many couples collect a bunch of photos, cards, etc over the years, it’s nice to go through them after a while and reminisce on those special moments together. It can really be fun to go through too!

Celebrating Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to cost a fortune. As the Beatles would say, “All you need is love.”
