If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you don’t even have to wait for movies to arrive or spend anything extra on movie rentals if you have the watch instantly option.
Five classic romantic movies you can watch instantly on Netflix:
An Affair to Remember (1957): Starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. Although each is already engaged to another, Nickie Ferrante (Cary Grant) and Terry McKay (Deborah Kerr) meet on an ocean liner and fall deeply in love. Tempting fate, they agree to meet at the Empire State Building in six months if they still feel the same way. But a tragic accident prevents their rendezvous, and the lovers' future takes an uncertain turn. This classic love story was nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Music.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961): Starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard. Fortune hunter Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn) finds herself captivated by aspiring writer Paul Varjak (George Peppard), who's moved into her building on a wealthy woman's (Patricia Neal) dime. As romance blooms between Paul and Holly, Doc Golightly (Buddy Ebsen) shows up on the scene, revealing Holly's past. The film received Oscars for best song ("Moon River") and best score.
Doctor Zhivago (1965): Starring Omar Sharif and Julie Christie. A young physician (Omar Sharif) and his beautiful mistress (Julie Christie) get swept up in the danger and drama of the Bolshevik Revolution in this Oscar-winning epic based on the classic novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Boris Pasternak. The film earned five Academy Awards in all, including statues for Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Score and Best Screenplay. Alec Guinness and Rod Steiger co-star.
Last Tango in Paris (1972): Starring Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider. An American expatriate (Marlon Brando) living in Paris and still spinning from his estranged wife's sudden suicide. While searching for an apartment, the grief-stricken widower encounters an equally despondent young Frenchwoman (Maria Schneider), and the couple embarks on an anonymous, no-strings-attached sexual liaison.
Reality Bites (1994): Starring Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, Ben Stiller and Janeane Garofalo. In this irreverent romantic comedy from first-time director Ben Stiller, a small circle of friends (Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, Janeane Garofalo and Steve Zahn) suffering from post-collegiate blues must confront the hard truth about life, love and the pursuit of gainful employment. As they struggle to map out survival guides for the future, the Gen-X quartet soon begins to realize that reality isn't all it's cracked up to be.
