Frugal family fun this week January 2012

If you're trying to beat the winter blues and get out and about with the family without breaking the bank here's some ideas for this upcoming week:

Saturday 1-14-12: Philbrook's monthly free day is here 10:30 a.m. -4p.m. for more information check out their website.

Tulsa Children's Museum is inviting all youth and adults interested in volunteering to a Playologist party! 10 a.m. -12 p.m. in the Aaronson auditorium of the Central Library- 400 Civic Center. Get a hands on look of mobile exhibits, free food and drinks provided, and enter to win tickets to the Jan. 22 concert with the Claptet. See their website for more information.

Lowe's free Build and Grow clinic 10 a.m. Your kid can be the king or queen of the castle when they build a castle- be sure to check out their website to register and for more information.

Sunday 1-15-12: 4:45 p.m. MLK Walk in Peace: A procession will form at 7th & Cincinnati and leave at 5:30 p.m. for Boston Ave. United Methodist Church at 13th and Boston. Walkers should bring a  flashlight and shuttle service to where it began will be provided.
6 p.m. MLK Interfaith Commemorative Service- Boston United Methodist Church will host the annual service with a guest speaker, a Presentation of "Keeping the Dream Alive" Award, and the 2012 winner of  the MLK Oratorical contest will recite Dr. King's "I have a Dream" speech. Monday 1-16-12: 11 a.m. MLK Commemorative Parade will begin at Detroit and John Hope Franklin Blvd, Proceeding east to Archer, then west on Archer to Elgin. The Awards Presentation Ceremony of parade winners will take place in the OSU -Tulsa Main Hall-Commons Area, 700 N. Greenwood at 1:30 p.m.
9 a.m. -5 p.m. Tulsa Zoo Mondays = dollar days during the month of January and February with 1 dollar admission and plenty of indoor exhibits. See their website for more information.
 
Tuesday 1-17-12: Martin Regional Library- My 1st Storytime 10:30 a.m. for newborns -2 yr.old; Preschool Storytime 11 a.m. for ages 3-5.
Hardesty Regional Library My 1st storytime 10 a.m. for ages newborn to 2 yr.old ; Toddler time 11 a.m. for ages 2-3 and their caregivers. Please see Tulsa City-County Library website for more information.
 
Wednesday 1-18-12: Hardesty Regional Library- Preschool storytime with Ms. Krisie 11 a.m. stories, music, and activities for ages 3-5.

Thursday 1-19-12: Helmerich Library 10 a.m. Family storytime- Enjoy books, music, and finger plays- for all ages. 
Herman and Kate Kaiser Library My 1st storytime 10:30 a.m.; Stay and Play Storytime 11 a.m. stay after storytime and enjoy games, toys, and activities for newborns -2 yr. old and their caregivers. 
Judy Z. Kishner Library 3-4 p.m. Wild Things at the Library- See the story "Where the Wild things are" come alive with a skit and then create a craft based on the book. For ages 5-12.
 
Friday 1-20-12: There are many other things to do in Tulsa like the aquarium, children's museums, and frugal movie deals too -Have fun!
