"Frozen" was the No. 1 in movie digital sales/rentals for the first half of 2014, according to Rentrak, which announced the Top 10 list of the quarter. In the animated musical “Frozen,” Anna (voice of Kristen Bell), a fearless optimist, teams up with extreme mountain man Kristoff and his sidekick reindeer Sven in an epic journey, encountering mystical trolls, a funny snowman named Olaf, Everest-like extremes and magic at every turn in a race to find Anna’s sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), the Snow Queen, and save their kingdom from eternal winter. "Frozen" won two Oscars: Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (for "Let It Go"). "Frozen" got excellent reviews from critics and now holds the record for the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

Of the Top 10 movies ranked in VOD rentals for the first half of 2014, seven were films that received Oscar nominations: "Frozen," "Captain Phillips," "Gravity," "12 Years a Slave," "Bad Grandpa," "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and "The Wolf of Wall Street." Three of those six movies won Oscars: "Frozen," "Gravity" and "12 Years a Slave." The Oscar ceremony airs in the first quarter of the year, so the awards show plays a big role in movie rentals during that period of time.
