Frontier has begun charging for carry-on baggage for customers effective flights purchased after April 28th.

According to the press release:

Frontier Airlines today announced it has lowered fares and simplified its fare structure by offering only two types of fare options – Economy and Classic Plus – effective for all tickets purchased on or after April 28, 2014. The lowest Economy fares have been reduced by an average of 12 percent on every nonstop route Frontier flies. Frontier has simplified its fee structure for carry-on bags, checked bags, and seat assignments. As a result, the Economy fare is now fully unbundled - enabling customers to choose and pay for only the products they want to truly customize their flight. Customers who purchased tickets prior to April 28 will see no change.

Last year, Frontier Airlines started adding carry-on fees for flights booked on 3rd party websites.

“With this change, we are ensuring that our most loyal customers – Ascent and Summit level members of EarlyReturns®, those who book Economy, Classic and Classic Plus tickets, including all customers who book through, will have more space onboard the aircraft for their carry-on bags,” said David Siegel, Frontier’s chief executive officer. “As we unbundle our product further, we ensure those customers who want the absolute lowest fares can always find them at”

This most recent change rolled these fees out to all economy fares booked, even ones booked on
