Front Street Animal Shelter holds pet photo contest; entry deadline is June 30

So who doesn’t love photographing their Rover or Kitty at rest, play, walking or on their lap?

How many times a day do you reach for the camera to photograph Rover or Kitty? Eating, sleeping, walking, talking, singing and of course, they are at their cutest after they have done something bad AKA “shaming”.

And, how many times do you share these photos, either by text, email or on Facebook?

So, how about posting those precious pet photos on Facebook and trying to help some other less fortunate animals with this cuteness?

That’s the goal of the Front Street Animal Shelter’s current fundraiser. Proud pet parents post their photo entries through June 30, then on July 1, recruit votes through their friends, family and rest of their social network, for just $1 each.

“Votes are purchased at $1 each with no limit on the number of votes a person can cast for your photo – and funds raised will benefit the animals at the Front Street Animal Shelter,” Team Front Street writes on Facebook.

The highest vote-getters win – which might not necessarily correspond to the best photo, according to entry information. Voters can vote as often as they wish.

The contest rules also stipulate that entrants post only one photo. The shelter's goal, according to manager Gina Knepp's post on Facebook, is to recruit 250 entries. Why the magic number? Because if 250 people enter photographs, Lasher Elk Grove Subaru will sponsor 100 adoptions!

To enter, select one of the following categories that best fits the photo:

  • Best Friends
  • Awwww
  • Working Class / Athletes
  • Nap Time
  • Celebrities
  • Pet Shaming – LOL

So, dear reader: help me decide from my vast collection of fosters and current companions which entry I should select. I am choosing the "Nap Time" category because I apparently photograph my critters as they snooze (or I just don’t sleep very much).

What do you think? Let’s hear your votes! Leave me a note on Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn, Twitter; your choice! And be sure to check the Front Street Animal Shelter Facebook page for the contest entries on July 1.
