Front Porch Classics packs its games for the long climb

At last month’s Toy Fair, Front Porch Classics brought a new twist to its retro game catalog via its new Outfitters Travel Collection.

“The star of the show is the packaging,” says the company’s Jeff Loeb of the Outfitters versions of Cribbage, Mancala and Best Dice Games.

“The wooden games are lightweight and compact and packaged in a canvas and nylon stuff sack with a mesh window and toggle closure, so you can see what it is—and there’s a carabiner so you can strap it onto a backpack. One day you’ll climb Mt. Everest, and when you do, we want you to take your favorite game with you!”

Also new at Front Porch is the Deer in the Headlights Board Game, which builds on the success of the company’s best-selling Deer in the Headlights card game and neatly stores in a camo bag “so you won’t scare off any game while hunting,” claims Loeb. Further expanding on the “animal game” concept is Hold Your Horses, a card/dice mini board game along the lines of Fish or Cut Bait.

And taking a cue from another popular Front Porch game, Deluxe Dice Classics takes the slide-open top, all-wood box design of Mexican Train Dominoes in bringing together 25 classic dice games including Yacht, Farkel-Plus, Crown & Anchor and Liar’s Dice in a box lined with felt--upon which are printed classic casino games.
