WJHL television has reported that the lockdown was lifted at UVA Wise. It appears that a report was received of a gunman on campus, but after a door- to- door search, no gunman was discovered. It is uncertain if the incident was an intentional hoax or not.

UVA Wise campus is on lockdown tonight, Jan. 23, 2013, according to WJHL.com. While details are not yet available, according to Twitter, there is a suspected gunman on the campus. The story is just breaking, but family members have received phone calls that their students were told to stay in the dorm.
Prayerful tweets are circulating on Twitter as people await details of the situation. Many people in the Tri-Cities area have family and friends at UVA Wise.
At 10 p.m., Twitter is saying that there are 3 gunmen on campus, although this is certainly not confirmed. Josh Smith from WJHL just posted the following:
Just spoke to a UVA Wise spokesperson. Too soon to release info. other than lockdown status.
There is a sense of panic on Twitter as people to figure out what is going on. There has been an epidemic of school shootings in the past few months, but nobody ever think it will hit close to home.
