Hi, today I have to touch on a different topic than fashion or women and style. The topic I am discussing is school safety. After the horrible Sandy Hook tragedy several adults came up with their ideas of how we can have safer schools; including guns being added to the protection list. Well, most of what I heard didn't sit to well on my mind, so I decided to ask the real experts.... High school and middle school students.
I spoke with several children in the age group of 11 to 17 and got different opinions about school safety. One conclusion I received is a lot of these children are not too comfortable with the guns in schools choice. Their concerns, to mention a few; what if the person isn't properly trained to use a gun or panics while holding a gun, then everyone would be in danger, or what if the person got into the school before the person who is armed notices......
These concerns were serious to these young folks. Then one high school student's idea caught my attention and I had to share it.. Marcus, a seventeen year old senior feels no armed security needs to be in any school. His vision is all schools should be gated, like a gated community where the security sits at the gate in a bullet proof booth, he or she should be armed., Once school is in session the gates should be locked and of course ID must be shown by all those who are entering. In the booth should be cameras where each hallway and class room can be monitored from time to time. When someone is visiting a picture is automatically taken along with ID.
This students ideas seem to be the best I have heard.. instead of children seeing armed security walking around in the building where they are trying to learn. Out of the mouth of babes, perhaps the adults should listen, after all its their schools.
