Here in San Diego, California on this Thanksgiving Day, we took time out of our busy schedules to sit around the table with family and friends to give thanks for the many blessings that has been bestowed upon us. As we prepared and consumed our meals, I hope that each of us gave thanks by first saying "I am thankful to be able to give thanks." Basically, you are showing gratitude towards a higher power that has allowed you to enjoy this day with your family and friends.
Right now, there are thousands of foster children that want to belong and to have their existence acknowledge. They want to belong to a family where they are treated like a real family member. On this day, for many of the foster children here in San Diego is very difficult. They often wish that this day would hurry up and end.
Foster children can be a blessing for those who are unable to have their own children. If given the chance, they can bring a smile to your face and allow you to experience the world through their eyes. Think about it; you could be the parent that they are seeking. You could be the parent that will help them to choose the right path on their life's journey.
Last week, I had the opportunity to appear on Blog Talk Radio. Gumbo for the Soul was shedding light on adoption, on life, in which they have created an anthology, "Here's Our Child-Where's The Village"? The show was hosted by Rachael Berry and guest co-host, award winning author, Cheryl Lacey Donovan. Not many radio shows dedicate an entire segment to one particular issue, especially to foster children and adoption.
Remember, every child will have a story to tell. Let them tell a story of how you made a positive impact on their life.
