From the Ashes is a powerful new rare red "Magic: The Gathering" card featured in the "Nature of the Beast" deck from "Commander (2013 Edition)." This sorcery can potentially blow up all of your opponent's land on the battlefield, leaving you as the only person able to cast any spells.
From the Ashes - 3R
Destroy all nonbasic lands. For each land destroyed this way, its controller may search his or her library for a basic land card and put it onto the battlefield. Then each player who searched his or her library this way shuffles it.
Unlike Ruination, From the Ashes is a "fair" land destruction spell. Unless your adversaries are running a significant amount of basic lands in their decks, this Ghost Quarter on steroids will be able to blow up their entire mana base. Even if your rivals replace each nonbasic land, you'll be able to rid the battlefield of every Maze of Ith or other annoying lands they may control.
One way to abuse From the Ashes is if your deck boasts a significant amount of cards that have Landfall, allowing you to gain an even further advantage when From the Ashes goes off. From the Ashes also pumps cards like Consuming Aberration, Terravore, Lord of Extinction, and Detritivore which count the number of cards in graveyards. Life from the Loam and Crucible of Worlds will allow you to replay the lands from your graveyard.
How will you use From the Ashes?
