Go to Marrakesh or Firenze for dinner this week and save a bundle. It’s dineLARestaurant Week. But Los Angeles’ biggest and best budget-saving foodie event of the season ends this Friday (Feb.1) so you have to hurry up and book your table.
Your LA Travel Diva Examiner has already hit quite a few spots, saving major bucks on a three-course veal chop dinner at the Palm for just $45. And last night a $25 five-course feast at Marrakesh in Studio City (with free entertainment by belly dancer thrown in, we might add). Seated at very lower tables, in a very Moroccan-style room , after a ritual washing of our hands, we dined on a platter of hummus, marinated eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers and spiced carrots. This was followed by a dish called B’Stilla that is a mix of shredded chicken, eggs, almonds and spices wrapped in filo dough and baked. Next up was a choice of beef or chicken kabobs, a choice of lemon chicken or honey lamb and a fave rave Baklava with Moroccan mint tea. This meal would cost nearly double during non dineLA times.
Earlier in the week, it was lunch at Firenze Osteria for a mere $20 each that satisfied us with a cauliflower souffle, pan seared Mediterranean seabass and a divine olive oil cake. Marrakesh is located
Marrakesh is located at 13003 Ventura Blvd Studio City, (818) 788-6354. Firenze Osteria is at 4212 Lankershim Blvd., Toluca Lake, (818)760-7081.
Now sit back and feast your eyes on some of the dishes we devoured during dineLA. The slideshow is bound to make you hungry enough to make a reservation.
