From MMMBop to MMMHop, Hanson breaks into brewmaking

MMM Hop is real.  It's an India Pale Ale named in honor of Hanson's behemoth 1990s hit, "MMMBop."  Many of Hanson's fans from the 1990s are drinking age.  Now they'll be able to toast to their favorite band with their new favorite brew.

“We of course make records, they are fundamental to what we do, but we wanted to create a brand so that our fans have a greater experience,” Zac Hanson said.  Look for it in 2012.

Rock fans know that it won't be the first time rockers delved into the world of alcohol.

The band Train started a wine club.  Tool's lead singer, Myanard James Keenan, escaped from Los Angeles to Arizona to establish Merkin Vineyards and start his own brand of wines, Caduceus Cellars.  (Sold in Whole Foods Markets.)  Rapper Lil' Jon started Little Jonathan Wines.  Vince Neil started Vince Vineyeards.

Sammy Hagar started Cabo Wabo Tequila.  Marilyn Manson has "Mansinthe."  Willie Nelson went with creating "Old Whiskey River" which is, well, whiskey.  Dr. Dre delved into cognac called "Aftermath."

Rounding out the alcohol endeavors, British rock group Elbow has a brew called "Build A Rocket Boys" and Def Leppard's Joe Elliot started a lager called "Down 'n Outz."
