He was the first Asian-American cast member on Saturday Night Live who quickly became a box office sensation in Hollywood. This weekend, actor/comedian Rob Schneider takes over the microphone at The Comedy Zone.
When he portrayed super-friendly office guy "The Richmeister" on SNL, you may have gone to work the following Monday eager to make some "co-pieees". As an accidental gigolo on the big screen, his character Deuce Bigalow learned to find the "good" in just about everyone. Now, Jacksonville has the chance to see this unique comedic storyteller in a more intimate setting.
The Comedy Zone gives Jacksonville a ticket to see famous faces up close. The venue, located inside the Ramada Inn-Mandarin, may be limited on seating, but when it comes to booking big name talent, this team delivers year 'round. Having more than two dozen films to his credit, and associations with everyone from Dennis Miller to Adam Sandler to Christopher Walken, Schneider keeps the club's reputation for star power in tact.
Half Jewish and half Filipino, Schneider (via his official website) says he started writing jokes as a teenager. Later, he moved on to clubs, opening for comedy juggernauts like Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld. With longtime friend Adam Sandler and the Happy Madison team, Schneider has contributed familiar phrases and numerous "coming of age" characters to Generation-X pop culture. Now, Schneider shows off his stand-up roots right here on the First Coast.
