When Beyonce and Jay Z announced that they were going on a vegan diet cleanse, plant-based plans soared in popularity. Now other celebrities are keeping the meatless momentum going, including Jennifer Lopez. After losing 10 pounds on a vegan diet, she's proudly displaying her slim body as part of a campaign for a new song, reported Extra on August 13.
Boasting about her bodacious booty, Jennifer captioned a photo of herself posed looking backwards: "#bootyfromtheblock #bootyandthebeat #naturalbooty #jlobooty #LOL #enjoy." Fans accepted her invitation to "enjoy" with more than 300,000 loops.
Jennifer began her dairy-free, meat-free, gluten-free vegan diet in April. She wanted to lose those "really stubborn 8 to 10 pounds," reported Us Weekly.
After losing the weight, Jennifer gradually added other forms of protein. "Her diet is built around plants. Rather than ordering steak and then adding vegetables, she asks for vegetables and adds in sides of protein," a source said.
Now a size two, Jennifer views staying slim as an essential part of her career. "You got to work out, you got to watch what you eat. It’s a job–you've got to buckle down."
But for Robin Quivers, the choice to follow a plant-based diet involved more than weight loss. She feels that her vegan diet helped her restore her health after she discovered that she had cancer. Robin revealed her journey during Dr. Mehmet Oz's August 14 talk show.
In her role as Howard Stern’s humorous sidekick, Robin felt hesitant at first to talk about her battle with cancer. But she told Dr. Oz that now she has made the decision to be candid, she is grateful for the warm wishes that she has received.
Robin and Dr. Oz agree that her healthy plant-based diet was one of the keys to her recovery. She lost more than 80 pounds on the plan. Dr. Oz says that vegan diets also help to reduce the risk of heart disease and streamline digestion.
"My life totally changed, and now I have this amazing amount of energy," Robin told People magazine. Her vegan weight loss transformation "has given me the ability to do all these amazing things that I never in a million years imagined I could do."
Robin has become such an expert at cooking the vegan way that she's even authored a book describing her plant-based path with recipes. It's entitled "The Vegucation of Robin."
