Everyone, quite frankly, needs to chill out about Ben Affleck playing Batman. The entire process of this casting is in fact quite logical. After one wins an Oscar, one must scale their career back, so the next Oscar looks that much better. Remember Gigli? Argo made you forget, but it's now fresh in your memory!
On a more serious note, let's keep in mind that Zack Snyder is directing Batman VS Superman, not Christoper Nolan. Get the former Batman out of your heads. While Warner Brothers reportedly offered Christian Bale $50 million to play the role of Batman, he declined. Basically, this casting decision was meant to be a slap in the face to Bale, but is making the movie already look like a joke two years out. Let's not go direct to DVD quite yet. Affleck isn't the worst thing that could have happened to Batman. Mark Whalberg or Jean-Claude Van Damme may have been next in line for the part.
The storyline for Batman VS Superman is simple: Superman beats the crap out of Batman, who is retired. This is why it's the perfect role for Affleck right now- by the time the movie is finished, he will remember his Oscar Speech in 2013: "...It doesn't matter how you get knocked down in life because that's going to happen. All that matters is you gotta get up." The reality is, even the best critics can't judge this casting decision yet because no one has even seen Affleck in a cape yet (except Jennifer Garner). We should at least give Ben a chance, and blame George Clooney for Ben's bad decisions at a later date.
