Farm-to-Fork Frederick

Nothing tastes better than homegrown, local food. And now through Labor Day, Frederick County in Maryland is presenting locally grown and harvested goods in Farm-to-Fork—an 11-day culinary celebration of locally sourced foods.

Inspired by the "locavore" movement sweeping the nation, Farm-to-Fork Frederick is a celebration that encompasses eating locally grown and harvested food sources and showing an appreciation for the farmers who worked so hard to establish such fine eats. It also shows support and appreciation for the chefs and restaurants that bring these flavors to life by presenting hearty, great-tasting dishes to Frederick’s dining public.

Founder Miriam Nasuti saw the potential in the sustainable local food economy in the City of Frederick and Frederick County and set out to cultivate stronger ties between the county's deep-rooted farming community and
its vibrant, growing culinary marketplace. In 2013 the first Farm-to-Fork program “sprouted" to Frederick County, and this season it is back in full bloom!

Numerous area restaurants in Frederick will be taking part in Farm-to-Fork, and all who are involved have prepared a special Farm-to-Fork Frederick menu that uses 70% Frederick County grown and raised farm foods. Some of the participating restaurants include: A Better Choice Bakery, Barley and Hops Grill and Microbrewery, Beans in Belfry, Firestone’s Culinary Tavern, Fitzgerald’s Shamrock, Jojo’s Taphouse and Restaurant, La Paz Mexican Restaurant, Mistero Bar and Italian Grille, The Buz, The Lodge, Sumittra Thai Cuisine, Wine Kitchen and the Kitchen Studio Cooking School. Participating farms include: Catoctin Mountain Orchard, Caprikorn Farms, Country Pleasures Farm, Groff’s Content Farm, Scenic View Orchards, Pineline Poultry and Meats, South Mountain Creamery, Summer Creek Farm, Sweet Farm Sauerkraut and Thanksgiving Farm. Participating wineries include: Big Cork Vineyards, Distillery Lanes Ciderworks, Elk Run and Orchid Cellar.

So come out and enjoy fine local fare from one of these many great establishments! Farm-to-Fork will be ongoing from Aug. 22 to Sept. 1, so hurry in! For more information, visit
