She became a huge Disney Channel sensation, but now actress Bella Thorne will be switching gears to star in a classic horror flick. According to The Wrap on March 23, she will be filming a new version of “The Amityville Horror” for Dimension Films and Blumhouse Productions.

This film, which will be directed by Franck Khalfoun (“Maniac”), will also star Jennifer Jason Leigh of “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” fame. She will play the role of a single mother who moves into the horror house with her three children.

Thorne’s role in the movie has not yet been officially announced, but it will most likely be one of the three kids that will be terrorized in the infamous house.

The original movie was released in 1979 that was based on Jay Anson’s book, “The Amityville Horror: A True Story.” A remake of this same story came out in 2005 starring Ryan Reynolds and Chloe Moretz. This time around, the new version will simply be called “Amityville.”

Bella Thorne has been a busy girl since the Disney Channel series “Shake It Up” ended its run with the network. She has a role in an upcoming thriller called “Home Invasion,"as well as the Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore flick, “Blended.” In addition to that, she also co-stars in Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”

As if all of that isn't enough, the 16-year-old actress has been seen on set for an unknown project in which she was walking around in a witch’s outfit. Actually, it was more like something a teenage witch would wear. Also seen on the set with her has been a couple of other Disney stars, “Austin & Ally” actor Calum Worthy and her “Shake It Up” co-star Roshon Fegan. Fans are waiting to hear just what this new project is all about.

In the meantime, Bella Thorne is getting pumped up for her new horror flick as she just recently posted an Instagram photo with her red hair pulled up in a high pony tail and wearing some dark makeup.

“Hair and makeup test #amityville,” she wrote along with the photo.

“Amityville” is set to hit theaters in January of 2015.

What do you think of Bella Thorne’s new role? Do you think she will make a great horror queen?
