Is it strange to hang out in expensive hotel lobbies as a non-staying guest? Especially since the Bay Area is nothing like Las Vegas (where people can freely go hotel hopping for drinks and gambling)? It’s a sure bet that most of people think, “Oh they’ll probably find out we’re not staying here and boot us out…” Not true! For those who can’t afford to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto, CA, you’re still allowed to go in there and look at their modern architectural designs and dine at their restaurant and bar.
In Palo Alto, University Ave. is the scenic downtown street next to the prestigious Stanford University and is filled with fancy shops and restaurants. But most of the places close at 11pm, especially on a working week day. So when hanging out on a Thursday night past 11pm, there’s not many other fun activities to do. The Four Seasons Hotel has a bar that closes at midnight so that was the only option. Sure, nobody wants to get a hangover the next day at work, so opt out of alcoholic drinks, just order some soda and hang at their comfy lounge.
What can you expect from a Four Seasons bar? High prices. A glass of root beer or Sprite can cost $4. Was it worth it? In a way, it kind of was because it was the best option for hanging out afterhours in Palo Alto with friends. If you order an alcoholic drink, it fetches around $15.
This hotel is very nice to go wander inside for a day trip (or night trip) and easily accessible since it is located next to freeway 101.
