Vallejo Six Flags premiere fall event, Fright Fest, ends Sunday, October 27. You could tell that the folks who planned this year's Fest had a lot of fun figuring out how to maximize the chill factor (as if its death-defying rides were not enough). Even the website designer got in the act.
The scary attractions seemed bigger and bloodier this year. Which, judging from their recent news releases, is only a precursor of what this theme park has planned for 2014 (minus the blood). On the drawing-board is their 41-story Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, billed as the "world's tallest drop ride", hoisting riders 415 feet into the sky and hurtling them back to Earth at 90 miles per hour. Three very large Zumanjaro towers will be built near the new Kingda Ka coaster also debuting during the park’s 41st season.
2013's season closes on a historic note. Rolling Thunder, the park's wooden roller coaster, will be demolished. Zumanjaro will be constructed on its former site.
