Friends in U.S and Germany pay tribute to Tony Sheridan (Photos)

Tony Sheridan's friends and fans in Hamburg, Germany, and San Diego, Calif. were united in spirit Monday in two separate memorials for the singer, according to Dave Humphries and Robbie Taylor, who organized the event in the U.S.

“A private ceremony was held in San Diego for Tony Sheridan,” Robbie and Dave told us. “At 7 p.m. Monday, about 35 friends of Tony’s gathered to celebrate Tony’s life. It was a spiritual ceremony, with chanting, songs, stories of Tony, candles and wonderful energy to help Tony on his next voyage. After the ceremony, we went to the Old Sod Pub and joined more people in cheering Tony.”

In Hamburg, over 300 people came to mourn Tony Sheridan. Among them was Ted “Kingsize” Taylor, who had played with the Beatles and Tony Sheridan in Hamburg.

Sheridan died in February after being ill for several months. He'd been in the hospital since December.

You can see pictures of both memorials in the slide show, and additional pictures from the Hamburg tribute at this link.
