Congratulations are in order to Friends of Dreamland who will be receiving a grant from the Arkansas Arts Council, effective in July and renewable for 3 years! One of the many reasons they were chosen to receive the grant is that Dreamland is considered a valuable artistic resource in the community. The grant will pay part of the executive director’s salary and includes valuable training for the board and director.
Friends of Dreamland have recently turned in another grant application to New Futures for Youth, an economic development grant, and are working on 3 separate proposals to the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame, the Black History Commission, and the Arkansas Humanities Council. These three proposals all have to do with getting the Taborian Hall Museum up and running, which includes framing historic Dreamland and Taborian Hall photos and telling the story about saving Taborian Hall from ruin.
