This is the fourth consecutive year attending, "The Friends of Bezalel" Gala. Each year it is held at a glamorous venue, last year it was the Mondrian Oriental and last night it was the St. Regis in midtown.
The Bezalel Gala is very special in that the benefit honors the fine arts department and promotes innovation which is something lacking in our world today, creating beauty in a time in our culture where corporate restructuring, horrific politics and the office morale are at an all time low.
Chairman, Friends of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Illan Kaufthal opened the dinner along with Consul General of Israel, Ambassador Ido Aharoni.
The Alumnus Ambassador awarded for the first annual presentation was presented by:
Sivia Loria, VP and Interactive Project, Ronit Levin Delgado, Bezalel Alumna, MFA student and Fulbright Scholar.
Ronit was lively, vivacious and a true sweetheart. She introduced me personally to Dr. Ruth Westheimer (Sex expert) and I later found out Dr. Ruth and I share the same birthday!
During the live auction, Jennifer Roth, Auctioneer and VP of Sotheby's was also greeted with Dr. Ruth promising, "Good sex for a lifetime" for the highest bidders.
Eli Petel, Head of the Fine Arts Dept at Bezalel and Bathsheva Rifkin, President sent well wishes to everyone at the close of the evening.
