Friendly shepherd mix at animal control has become unresponsive

2/10/14 - UPDATE: MURPHY IS SAFE. I was able to pull him. I got an email from Debi at the shelter saying I could rescue him today. I don't normally rescue dogs, but I took that as a sign that Murphy needed to get the hell out of that place right away so I jumped on the offer! I've never heard of the shelter allowing a pull on a day they are closed so I spent the last hour coordinating with the vet tech who is transporting and the hospital. Murphy is headed to the vet right now. He will have a blood panel, X-rays, and a catheter and then we'll go from there.

On Jan. 23, a young, German shepherd mix arrived to the City of San Bernardino Animal Control in Calif.

When the two-year-old dog, named "Murphy," first arrived, he was extremely friendly and volunteers noted that he liked to rub "like a cat."

Now, two weeks later, the same dog is nearly unresponsive on his dog bed, he will not even raise his head when his name is called.

On Sunday, a video was taken of Murphy...the dog's lack of response is upsetting.

Please take a moment to network on Murphy's behalf.
