Mahon Harbour in Minorca, Spain / Friendly Planet Travel
If cooking a turkey all day and cleaning your house for unappreciative family members don’t seem like appealing ways to spend your holiday, a Mediterranean cruise could be an affordable alternative.
Launching their first Mediterranean itinerary, Friendly Planet Travel is offering two holiday cruises aboard the M/V Louis Majesty with an extensive list of ports for under $1,400. During the cruise, you’ll visit majestic castles, soak in ancient cultures, and savor sumptuous cuisine.
The Mediterranean Highlights program features port calls in Italy, France, Spain, Tunisia, and Malta. This six-day cruise starts at $1,299 with two bonus nights in Rome. The first departure is December 19-28, 2009 and six more departures are offered throughout 2010.
The eight-day Iberian Coast tour starts at $1,399 and also has the two extra days in Rome add-on. Its first departure is December 25 – January 5, 2010, with four more scheduled throughout 2010.
Both itineraries include roundtrip flights from New York, all on-board meals, flights to Rome, hotel accommodations in Rome, and group transfers.

Sounds great! Thanks for letting us know about this. Great photographs as well!
We just came back from the Iberian Coast cruise offered by Friendly Planet. The M/V Louis Majesty cruise was mediocre, at best. The transfers promissed by Friendly Planet in Italy were not fulfilled and the entire group was stranded. Upon our return to the US, Friendly Planet simply refunded the amount spent on taxis, but did absolutely nothing to compensate us for all the frustrations that 22 people had to endure.
