Darius Mulbah and Odell Howard ran for two touchdowns apiece to lead the Fridley Tigers to a 40-7 win over the host St. Louis Park Orioles Friday night.
Mulbah scored the lone first quarter touchdown when he went up the middle for eight yards.
Howard began the Tigers second quarter scoring as he ran left and took advantage of missed Oriole tackles to score a 35 yard touchdown. Fridley led at halftime 13-0.
In the third quarter, take the number of yards Mulbah ran for his first touchdown (eight) and multiply it and you'll get the answer as the Tiger senior went down the left sideline to score on a 64 yard run. Howard not only scored on offense, he scored on defense as he intercepted Oriole quarterback Quinn Livdahl and put it in the end zone.
The Tigers tacked on two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter, staring with Michael Murray scoring from five yards. Once again, it was Howard who picked off Livdahl and drove down the field like a freight train on the nearby railroad tracks to score a 96 yard touchdown.
St. Louis Park ended any possibility of a Fridley shut out when Robert Griffin Jr. scored on a 17 yard run. It was the only scoring for the Orioles.
Livdahl went 15 of 31 for 89 yards and was intercepted four times. He also rushed for 65 yards.
The Tigers improve their record to 2-0 and will host the Spring Lake Park Panthers on Friday, September 13. The Orioles fell to 0-2 and will play at Benilde-St. Margaret's on Thursday, September 12. Both games are 7 PM starts.
