Friday's concerts topped by Conspirator, El Dorados, and Lake of Fat Kids

Here is a look at Friday's top concerts for those daring to venture out into the single-digit temps and negative wind chills.

The Gas Lamp in Des Moines will host a night of blues tonight. The music starts at 4:30 with Gas Lamp's weekly Work Release Party featuring Iowa rock and blues legend Bob Pace and The Dangerous Band. The Work release Party has a $5 cover, offers free food while it lasts, and runs until 7:30 p.m. At 9 p.m., the El Dorados will take the Gas Lamp stage. The El Dorados blend blues, rock, honky-tonk, and rockabilly into a truly entertaining show. There will be a $5 cover at the door.

The GrapeVine in Clive will host Heath Alan and Justin Appel of the blues/roots group the Heath Alan Band at 7 p.m. There is a $15 cover charge, and the show is a bring your own beverage and food event. There is limited space left for this show, and you must RSVP to afinetime4wine@aol.com to attend.

Des Moines pop punk band Lake of Fat Kids will headline the 5:30 p.m. show at Des Moines' Vaudeville Mews tonight. A Better Reality, Stoopid, and Super Powers will open the show. There will be a $5 cover for this all ages show. The late show at the Mews will feature the Minneapolis street punk band Degeneration. The trio is entering its 20th year of making music, and they are currently working on a new CD. Opening the late show will be the Des Moines punk band Make Your Mark. The late show starts at 10 p.m. and has a $5 cover.

The Philadelphia EDM quartet Conspirator will bring their Dynasty tour to Wooly's in Des Moines at 8 p.m. tonight. The band's latest EP, Unleashed, is available now on iTunes. Opening the show will be the Indiana-based funk band The Main Squeeze. Tickets for the all ages show are $17 at the door.

Also tonight, the House of Bricks in Des Moines will roast musician Rich Cantrell. Des Moines rockers The Maw and Aquamarine Dream Machine will perform. Things will kick off at 9 p.m., and there is a $5 cover.
