Friday's concert lineup features Winter Jam, Snoball, Three 6 Mafia, and more

Friday is full of great Central Iowa concerts. From Contemporary Christian to rap, blues to soul, and metal to country, there is a show for every musical taste tomorrow night. Here is a look at the Central Iowa concert calendar for March 28.

Wells Fargo Arena will host Winter Jam 2014 Friday night at 7 p.m. Christian music's largest annual tour will bring Newsboys (featured video), Lecrae, Tenth Avenue North, Thousand Foot Krutch, Plumb, Newsong, Colton Dixon, Love & The Outcome, Everfound, Derek Minor, and Nick Hall to Des Moines for this year's event. Tickets for the all ages show are just $10 and are only available at the door.

Country rocker GB Leighton headlines the House of Bricks on Friday. The Minneapolis product has become so popular up north that one night club owner named his club after Leighton and has menu items named after his songs. Leighton has released nine studio albums in ten years and has a new EP entitled Get Up available now on iTunes. Opening the show at 9 p.m. will be Okoboji, Iowa native Damon Dotson. Tickets for the 21-and-up show are $10, and they may be purchased online through MidwesTix or at the door.

LAZER 103.3 FM will hold Snoball 2014 at Wooly's in Des Moines Friday night at 7:30 p.m. This year's Snoball features performances by Des Moines rock/metal bands Deadfront, Index Case, Marcato, and Superchief. Tickets for the all ages show are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. Tickets may be purchased through the Wooly's box office or online through Ticketfly.

Southern alt-rockers Green River Ordinance will perform two shows at the Maintenance Shop in Ames tomorrow night. The 6 p.m. early show is a special VIP acoustic performance, while the 9 p.m. late show will be a plugged in affair with opening acts Elenowen and Marc Scibilia. Tickets for the early show are $20 in advance ($15 for ISU students), and they may be purchased at the M-Shop box office or through MidwesTix. Ticket prices will go up by $2 the day of the show. Tickets for the late show are sold out. Both concerts are all ages events.

Three 6 Mafia (or Da Mafia 6ix as they have called themselves since parting with Juicy J) will headline a huge hip hop event at Krazee Kafe on Friday night. Other acts performing will include tourmates Twisted Insane, Whitney Peyton, and Sozay, plus locals Yung Drank, Always Different, Ghost Mayne, TapeWerm, Kiss Da Cook, Young Drew, Shabazz, and Swag. The show will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be open to all over the age of 18. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door through the venue. Advance tickets may also be purchased online through Brown Paper Tickets for $20.

Des Moines soul/funk/rock/blues group Bella Soul will perform at Tally's restaurant in Beaverdale Friday night from 8 p.m. to midnight. Come for dinner; stay for the show. There will be no cover for this performance.

Gas Lamp in Des Moines will have a doubleheader of music on Friday night. Guest hosting the Friday Work Release Party from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. will be Iowa Blues Hall of Famers Sumpin' Doo. The early show has a $5 cover charge and offers free food while it lasts. The 9 p.m. late show features normal Work Release hosts Bob Pace and The Dangerous Band. Pace is a member of the Iowa Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Iowa Blues Hall of Fame. The late show has a $5 cover and is a 21-and-over event.

Finally, Des Moines rock and blues artist Richard Arndt will perform at Whiskey Dixx in Des Moines at 9 p.m. The show is free, and you must be 21 or older to get in.
