In solidarity with detainees on hunger strike in Tacoma, Washington and Conroe, Texas, the National Day Laborer Organizing Network is organizing a national day of action against deportations on Saturday, April 5. Protests are planned in about 70 U.S. cities.

The solidarity action in Columbus will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4 at the corner Broad and High Streets, near the Ohio Statehouse. You can RSVP on Facebook here.

It's predicted that in April, 2 million people will have been deported by the Obama administration. The President can take concrete, bold, and necessary actions today to turn back the deportation dragnet.

"We want President Obama to be a real reformer, not the deporter-in-chief," said Maria Sanchez of Columbus, one of the event organizers. "He can give us relief with the stroke of a pen."

NDLON has also organized a petition on behalf of detained hunger strikers in Tacoma and Conroe, Texas.
