On Feb. 5, 2013, Frida Bistro will be holding an all-day fundraising event to benefit the English Skills Learning Center (ESLC).
Located at 545 W 700 S, Frida Bistro’s event will be the kick off to the ESLC’s campaign to raise $25,000 for 25 years of service. At least 10 percent of the day’s proceeds will go toward helping immigrants integrate into Utah with English classes.
“Their Cream Sweet Potato Bisque is heavenly,” says Beth Garstka, community outreach director for the ESLC. “It is reason enough to go there.”
The money raised from this event will help alleviate “a number of different limitations” for the ESLC.
“We’re not just impacting our students’ lives, but our volunteers’,” says Garstka.
The ESLC’s $25,000 for 25 years is there first fundraising campaign that targets individual donations in about six years.
“If we can raise $25,000 for this year before the end of 2013, it would be pretty monumental for us,” says Garstka.
Frida Bistro has worked with the ESLC before, and Garstka says that the restaurant really helps out the community.
“If we have to be the reason for people to check out this culinary Mecca in Salt Lake City, I think people will be impressed,” says Garstka
