Fresno schools 101: when does school start?
The heat is still with us, but students will be returning to classrooms very shortly. For grades K-12, school starts between Aug.11 and Aug. 24 this year. To help you find your child’s school opening date and other commonly searched for information, I have compiled a list of links below. If you have recently moved into Fresno or just to a different neighborhood, your children may need to change schools this year. Within the City of Fresno, Central Unified School District (CUSD) will open on Aug. 12. The first day of school for Fresno Unified School District is Aug. 17. West Fresno Elementary School will begin on Aug. 18.
Fresno’s neighbor, Clovis Unified School District, will not start classes until Aug. 24. Nearby Kerman Unified will has an Aug. 17 opening date. For a complete list of all opening, closing, holiday and vacation schedules for Fresno County school districts, click here
Spend some time clicking around below. There are some great programs available through the various school districts. One of my favorites is Math on Call. It is a televised math hot line that is available Mon.-Thurs. 4-5 p.m. Students call in questions, and teachers walk them through the problems. If you go to the Math on Call webpage, you can scroll down the left sidebar and select Video Clips, which will take you to archived video clips on various topics. A live streaming webcast of Math on Call is also available.
