Carlos Xavier Marron was sentenced on Tuesday to three years of probation and ten days in the Fresno County Jail for what authorities called one of the "worst" neglect cases they had ever seen in West Central Fresno last summer reported abclocal.go.
Marron pleaded no contest to animal cruelty charges in the case of a pit bull named Enzo; the starving dog was found abandoned behind an apartment where Marron used to live in August 2013. No food or water was available.
At the time of his rescue, Enzo weighed only 50 pounds; a dog of his breed and build should have weighed in at a healthy 90 pounds. He suffered from severe mange and a heart murmur as a result of starvation and neglect.
Enzo was sent to the capable "paws" of the Fresno Bully Rescue where he was slowly nursed back to health. During his amazing recovery, his rescuers and caretakers often commented on the dog's gentle, kind, and forgiving nature. Enzo became so popular, he later appeared on the cover of American Dog Magazine after having been entered into the contest, "I Dream of Being a Cover Dog."
You go Enzo!
