Living in Fresno one of the challenges to encouraging fitness for children is the heat. Some choose expensive options of private lessons and children's classes. However, there is a multitude of free options to get your child in shape and teach fitness. One such option is Club H Quest. Engaging children in organized games in addition to teaching them about nutrition, sharing, and taking turns Club H Quest provides children to tools for a healthy live style. Classes are typically held at 4774 N. Blackstone Avenue. When visiting look for the Cynthia Merrill Dance Studio sign which is fairly visible. The Club H Quest is right next door. Classes range in price from free to approximately $5 per class and some classes provide the opportunity for parents to participate in the class with their child.

Seeking a more formal program, inexpensive baseball options are available. Providing a non-competitive baseball league where children learn a fit lifestyle, basic baseball, and how to work together, the Mosqueda Community Center is located at 4670 E. Butler. For those who want a less formal program, the Fresno World of Baseball may be your solution. It has indoor batting cages, pitching mounds, video analysis, and more.

Those seeking a less common way to stay fit may enjoy the Gateway Ice Center. Here one can take hockey or figure skating lesson or alternatively engage in the public ice skating sessions. One need not worry about their skill level as there are people of all levels from beginning, and falling, to very advanced. For parents it can be a delight to see some of the advanced skaters practices. It is not uncommon to see them help out beginners.

Last but not least is to just take them out for a hike. There are so many options including Woodward Park, Old Town Clovis Trail, and Railroad Trail. These all have areas along the way to get a drink. Furthermore they have some rest room facilities for added convenience.
