Floridian singer-songwriter Sonali is heading to DC to capture our hearts with her fresh new sounds. Sonali is a trained guitarist who might be the first to break into the adult contemporary like Colbie Callat. Her latest single “September” has golden sounding harmonies and rawness that just works.
She released an accompanying music video that garnered over 12,000 views, which is quite an achievement for a new artist. Recently, Sonali moved to the Big Apple to get exposure to various styles of writing.
"Moving to New York has exposed me to a lot of different musical styles, and with ‘September’ I was able to draw from my influences and blend this rich diversity into something I loved. It finally feels like me."
The singer originally hails from south Florida and got her start in music as a toddler. Before she could even write, Sonali was attempting to write her own lyrics and now, she is enrolled in New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music Program at Tisch School of the Arts. One of her current goals is to head to DC, "I've always wanted to perform in DC! I visited there last year and it's a really beautiful city with a great vibe, I can't wait to go back."
Sonali clearly has a young and energetic spirit. Earlier this year, she garnered the attention of pop star Rihanna after recording a viral video of Rihanna’s “Diamonds”. The video success put Sonali and her NYU friends in front of her idol Rhianna at a meet-and-greet at one of her concerts. This fresh face will be surely be turning heads if she continues to write like her September success.
