Rachel, known among to others as “Ray” or “Sugar Ray”, is the proud owner of Sugar Ray’s Bake Shop, located off of Spring Creek and Preston. She is 25 years young and started baking seriously when she was only 22, after trying to run an at home baking business for nearly 2 years, she was forced by customers to create Sugar Ray’s Bake Shop in November of 2013.

Sugar Ray’s is an eloquent bakery with a modern, yet rustic look and feel. The environment is very clean and neat and the customer service was absolutely delightful. Rachel’s business model is all about family as both her mother & grandmother help keep the business running, while her father helped build the beautifully structured interior.

The cupcakes are decorated nicely, nothing over the top, just a simple classic cupcake to go with the overall look and theme of the store. The cupcakes are packed with flavor and are insanely moist with a generous topping of frosting.

Rachel had dreamed of opening up her own bakery, while growing up watching her father own and start multiple businesses. She stated that most of her success is credited toward her customers for their appreciation of her product by spreading their gratitude by word of mouth, this in itself has made her extremely successful.

The bakery exhibits daily 7 different flavors, 3 every day staples (Milk Chocolate Hazelnut, Vanilla Bean and Red Velvet), with 4 additional flavors chosen each day. However, you must arrive early enough to get your favorites because once a flavor has run out, there is no more baking for the day.

Rachel brings her youth, experience and fun into the table and it’s clearly shown through her baking. She makes everything from scratch, from the mixes to icing toppers, a rare commodity in today’s baking world. She also stays true to her Italian roots by making her two favorite cupcakes, Italian Lemon with a rich Meyer lemon curd filling and her delectably rich Tiramisu.

Sugar Ray’s is a nice environment which offers a small patio section outside to eat. The customers also ranged from children to seniors making this a place everyone can enjoy. The Bake Shop also firmly believes in giving back, by donating 100% of their tips to charities and also offers one free cupcake to any veteran or military personnel.

When you get the chance stop by Sugar Ray’s Bakery for a mouthwatering experience!
