Over the past few days, Sinead O’Connor and Miley Cyrus have been involved in a back and forth social media war, which began after the former Disney star said in a Rolling Stone interview her “Wrecking Ball” video was inspired by O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” mega hit. O’Connor was apparently not pleased and wrote in an open letter to Cyrus not to “prostitute” herself and later threatened legal action after Cyrus retweeted two-year-old Twitter posts from O’Connor asking her followers to recommend psychiatric help due to her bipolar disorder.
On Oct. 5, 2013, on Ireland’s “Late Late Show,” O’Connor said Simon Cowell has murdered music, according to E! Online.
“I feel sorry for the murder of music and rock ‘n’ roll which has happened because of the industry. Because of Simon Cowell… It all amounts to the murder of music,” O’Connor said.
She added, “…The power of rock ‘n’ roll to change things, to move people, is being murdered by all this worship of fame, “Pop Idol,” “X Factor,” all of this stuff.”
O’Connor also said it is no longer about the song, but more about “the pyrotechnics, the t**s out… shake you’re a**… That is quite sad to me.”
She further revealed that back in the day, she shaved her head because her record company asked her to wear short skirts and act sexy, but she preferred to be judged on her talent and not the way she looked.
According to E!, the Irish singer said this was one of the reasons she wrote the open letter to Cyrus, in which she expressed concern about the young performer.

However, this resulted in Cyrus slamming O’Connor regarding her struggles with mental illness, which prompted a second and third letter to Cyrus from O'Connor, calling her stupid and “anti-female.”
According to Contact Music, in one letter O’Connor demanded of Cyrus, “Remove your tweets immediately or you will hear from my lawyers.”
Cyrus tweeted, “I don’t have time to write you an open letter cause I’m hosting and performing on SNL this week… So if you’d like to meet up and talk lemme know in your next letter :)”
