The film is about a woman named Rose (Francois) who decides to apply for a secretarial job with an insurance company which is owned by, Louis Echard (Duris). He sees that she has an knack for typing fast, so he tells her to compete in a speed typing competition and he becomes her trainer. The film is set in the 1950s. It has a R-rating.
The film had been nominated at the 2013 Cesar Awards for Best Original Music, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Productive Design and for Best First Film. "Populaire," won an award at the 2013 San Francisco International.
