French fry burger: On the heels of McDonald’s announcing that they will be rolling out “Mighty” chicken wings, Burger King is making news with a creation of their own: a French fry burger. We always get our burgers with fries, no? Combining the two is a natural match, reports The Associated Press via Yahoo! News on Aug. 27.
Burger King’s newest offering is an attempt to combat the heavily advertised McDonald’s dollar menu. The BK "French Fry Burger" will go for a buck and will be available starting Sept. 1.
The new burger would seem quite the novel idea, until we realize that all Burger King is doing is taking a standard burger and adding their fries to the patty. Still, for only $1, the price is right and the innovative burger will get people in the door.
“McDonald's in particular has stepped up advertising for its Dollar Menu, which now features its Grilled Onion Cheddar Burger and a more substantial McDouble, which has two patties and a slice of cheese,” the AP report writes. “That forced Burger King and Wendy's to adjust their tactics earlier this year to stress value more clearly as well. Burger King, for example, has offered any two sandwiches for $5 and a Junior Whopper for $1.29.”
A few weeks ago, I profiled a ramen burger, a USDA burger with buns made out of the fried ramen - the popular Japanese noodles. The new French fry burger certainly sounds equally good.
One thing’s for sure: When the fast food wars take off, we’re all winners. Insert fries and serve!
