League City, TX - A day ago, two dogs were abandoned and left for dead in a vacant apartment.
A day ago, the dogs, now known as Faith and Hope, had little of either.
How many days, make that weeks, did it take for these young dogs to deteriorate to such a deplorable state of health?
Who is capable of walking away from two living creatures without a backwards glance?
Open-ended questions with no promise of answers in sight.
The good news is that a volunteer with the Short Mugs Rescue Squad has picked the dogs up and transported them to a veterinarian for emergency treatment.
Both dogs are currently receiving life-saving care.
Hope is in an extremely fragile state of health. She weighs in at a meager 12 pounds and she is unable to stand on her own.
The veterinarian has determined that the pressure sores on both dogs' bodies are likely the result of them being kept confined to a small cage.
Sadly, both dogs appear to have been repeatedly bred.
By looking at their bodies, we gain a painful glimpse of their tortured life...a life of being confined, bred time and again, and at least in the end, starved.
A pitiful life - a dismal existence.
Hundreds of compassionate individuals have already learned about Hope and Faith. Those people, pained by what these dogs have endured thursfar, have been generously donating for their veterinary care.
By the look of their gaunt bodies, the care necessary to bring them back to health will be extensive.
Those hoping to contribute can do so at this Chip-in link.
Be well Hope and Faith - you are in good hands now.
